Cut & Alter

'This book gives so many different options.  Since starting my longarm quilting journey and talking to numerous quilters from around the world I have realised that people generally have several quilting designs that they have a natural talent for, ie it comes easily to them.  My advice would be to play to your strengths and expand from there.  Designs 1 to 7 in this book might be your natural talents, your friend might favour numbers 8 to 15, and so on.  It is a great book to look and doodle from and given a little time you will soon find what designs work for you and take it from there.'

Yarns and Fabrics

This really is an amazing book, now in its second edition. Leah set out to blog about creating a new free-motion quilting pattern every day and this is the result. It includes great designs for blocks, sashing and borders. Tips for getting on track with your quilting. Continuous line quilting and fabulous designs will ensure you will have a handy repertoire at your fingertips and your quilting will never be dull. There is an introduction with some answers to frequently asked questions. There is also an index at the back and room for your own notes. Each stitch design is shown with good photos, you can trace the design or you can visit Leahs website for video tutorials. This is not a how-to book, but it is an excellent resource for confident free-motion quilters. Advanced quilters will quickly adapt the designs too. The blurb on the back of the book says it is spiral bound, but it isnt, or at least mine isnt.
